Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 3

Cardiff City’s Fraizer Campbell was the highest points scorer in Gameweek 2, after a match winning brace in the Bluebirds surprise 3-2 victory over Premier League runners up Manchester City.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster produced an outstanding display to keep Everton at bay, with teammate Billy Jones also picking up the maximum bonus points.

Elsewhere Newcastle defenders Fabricio Collocini and Davide Santon both scored nine points to deny West Ham any joy at St James Park, whilst a Robbie Brady penalty gave Hull a priceless 1-0 victory over Norwich.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 3 as Liverpool host Manchester United.

Captain Choices

Edin Dzeko (MCI)

Edin Dzeko got his Premier League campaign underway with a powerful strike against Cardiff on Sunday and the Bosnian striker looks set to retain his place this weekend, despite being withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Manchester City have scored at least two goals in eight of their last 10 home games in the Premier League, with head coach Manuel Pellegrini likely to be attack-minded; with newly promoted Hull City Tigers the visitors to the Etihad Stadium.

Opponents Hull shipped two goals away at Chelsea on the opening day of the season and the Tigers look poised to concede a similar amount of goals, despite Steve Bruce’s tactics this weekend.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Fourteen of Van Persie’s 26 strikes in the Premier League last season came away from home and after starting off with a brace against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, Robin Van Persie will be looking to maintain his rich away goalscoring record against rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

Van Persie scored against Liverpool in both the home and away matches last season, with the Netherlands international hoping to endear himself to the Manchester United crowd with a match-winning display this weekend.

Hosts Liverpool have yet to concede a goal in the Premier League this term and despite the Reds strong clean sheet record at Anfield last season, Brendan Rodgers’ side could find themselves coming unstuck against Van Persie on Sunday.

David Silva (MCI)

Spain international David Silva has been transferred in more times than any other player during this round, with the attacking midfielder likely to add to his goal and assist tally from the first two games against Hull on Saturday.

Silva, who has averaged over 12 assists in the Premier League since arriving from Valencia in 2010, has seen a price increase of £0.3m since the start of the football season and further price increases are expected before the transfer window closes on Saturday.

Opponents Hull are unlikely to trouble Manchester City this weekend and Silva could be set for a starring role in the Citizens side on Saturday.

Transfer Tips

Kevin Nolan (WHU) – £7.2m

Eight of Kevin Nolan’s 10 Premier League goals last season came at Upton Park and after notching against Cardiff two weeks ago, the England international looks well poised to continue his strike rate at home against Stoke on Saturday.

Nolan will continue to be charged with finding the goals for the Hammers this weekend in the absence of injured striker Andy Carroll, with Sam Allardyce’s current crop of forwards less than prolific in the English top flight.

Opponents Stoke have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season and the home side look odds on to score at least once against the Potters this weekend.

Pablo Zabaleta (MCI) – £6.2m

Manchester City will be looking to get back to basics this weekend, after conceding three goals against newly promoted Cardiff last weekend.

Only Branislav Ivanovic has been selected more times than Pablo Zabaleta in defence this season and the Argentinean full back looks capable of mirroring his return of 12 clean sheets for the Citizens last season.

Opponents Hull are yet to score from open play and Manchester City should get their defensive record back on track with a shut out against the Tigers on Saturday.
