Premiership Predictions – 6-8 April
League leaders Manchester United host rivals Manchester City on Monday, but it is Southampton’s trip to Reading in Saturday’s early kick-off, which could hold the most significance at the bottom of the table.
West Brom (4.20) v Arsenal (1.95); Draw (3.70)
Last weekend’s comfortable victory over Reading left Arsenal just two points adrift of Chelsea in fourth place, as the Gunners continue to chase a down a top four finish.
Arsene Wenger has overseen Champions League qualification in each of his last 15 years at the club and the north London side appear to have found their stride going into the final few games of the season.
Arsenal have won five of their last six matches in the Premier League and despite again being without England duo Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott, the Gunners could move into the top four with Chelsea playing Sunderland on Sunday.
Arsenal have scored at least two goals in their last seven matches against West Brom in all competitions. Back Arsenal to score over 1.5 goals at 1.72.
The Gunners boast the best away record in the division and the north London side will be confident of securing their seventh away win on Saturday.
Opponents West Brom will be targeting a top-eight finish in the league and the Baggies remaining fixtures of Newcastle, Southampton, Wigan and Norwich all give manager Steve Clarke hope of achieving just that.
West Brom have won nine of their 15 matches at the Hawthorns in the Premier League, but just two wins in the last five home games point to late-season inconsistency for the Midlands club.
The Baggies welcome back James Morrison in midfield, but Youssouf Mululmbu begins the first of his three match suspension after being sent off against West Ham last weekend.
Romelu Lukaku should again lead the line for West Brom in Clarke’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, but the Baggies have a poor head-to-head record against the Gunners losing eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
Arsenal will be looking to build on their momentum going into the match and three points on Saturday could prove crucial if Arsene Wenger is to secure Champions League football again this season.
