Todays Football Tips
Chelsea (1.33) v Steaua Bucharest (11.00); Draw (5.50)
Chelsea’s slip up in Romania left the return leg as less of the formality that many were expecting, but the Blues’ performance and comeback against Manchester United in the FA Cup on the weekend pointed to more encouraging signs.
Juan Mata and Eden Hazard played instrumental parts at Old Trafford on Sunday and the talented front duo will be key for Chelsea tonight should Rafa Benitez decide to ignore the opportunity to rotate his side.
Demba Ba remains ineligible so Fernando Torres will get another chance to lead the line for the Blues, in what remains Chelsea’s only significant absentee.
Chelsea have won four of their last six games at Stamford Bridge in all competitions and the Blues remain odds on favourites to not only qualify, but to also win in 90 minutes.
Opponents Steaua Bucharest defeated Ajax in the last knock out round of the Europa League, but a lot of Ros-Albastrii’s good work has come at home with the Romanian side winning four of their last five matches at home in this competition.
Steaua Bucharest have not kept a clean sheet in their last four away games in the Europa League, but Laurențiu Reghecampf’s side do pose a threat on the break.
Chelsea will be looking to build on their excellent comeback at Old Trafford tonight and Rafa Bentiez’s side should impose their authority at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea -1.5 Asian Handicap @1.85
