Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 17
Gameweek 17 Fantasy Player Picks
GW17 (from): Hart, Vorm, Kompany, Ryan Taylor, Vermaelen, Baines, Johnson, Nani, Jarvis, Adam, Arteta, Silva, Rooney, Ba, Van Persie
David Silva (MCI)
David Silva’s goal against Arsenal in Gameweek 16 proved to be the difference last time out and the Spanish international is yet again the league leader’s most in-form player. The concern is how much Roberto Mancini will rotate his side over the festive period, but the midfield playmaker has picked up an average of 6.25 points in his last four Premier League games. The visit of Stoke City should not pose too many problems with the Potters having conceded an average of 2 goals a game away from the Britannia so far this season.
Other Contenders: Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero
Wayne Rooney (MUN)
The last time Wayne Rooney was amongst the goals was right at the beginning of the season, where the England striker scored in 5 consecutive games. Rooney added to his brace against Wolves in Gameweek 15 with another goal last time out against QPR. Opponents Fulham have conceded just 3 goals in 5 games, but Manchester United seem to be scoring more freely now and will look to kick on to maintain the pressure on their city rivals going into the new year.
Other Contenders: Nani
Robin Van Persie (ARS)
Last season Arsenal put 4 goals past Aston Villa in the reverse fixture and the irrepressible Robin Van Persie looks again best placed to hit the back of the net. Van Persie is currently the top goalscorer in the Premier League with 15 goals and the Dutch forward will be trying to help hos team climb up into the Champions League places.
Other Contenders: Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta
Yakubu (BLA) – 5.8m
Yakubu has failed to replicate his 4 goal heroics in Gameweek 14 against Swansea, but the visit of Bolton may give the Nigerian striker renewed hope. Bolton have shipped 17 goals on their travels and have conceded two or more goals in each of their last 4 games away from the Reebok stadium. Yakubu is Blackburn’s top goalscorer this season with 9 goals and has been consistently selected by manager Steve Kean.
Demba Ba (NEW) – 7.3m
With the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, fantasy managers will have to be weary of bringing in players who will be involved in the competition, but Demba Ba looks a good choice for Gameweek 17 with West Brom the visitors to St James Park. Ba has already got 11 goals and will want to surely add to his tally before departing to Senegal’s base camp.
Steven Fletcher (WOL) – 5.9m
Wolves’ Scottish striker has scored 3 goals since Gameweek 14 and appears to yet again be Mick McCarthy’s main goal threat. Wolves play at Molineux in Gameweek 17, with Norwich the visitors and Paul Lambert’s side have yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
